Medical Student
Hi, I'm Rishi! I'm a second year medical student at Newcastle University. I have a lot of experience tutoring GCSE students and I am interested in helping students to build their confidence and their understanding of both GCSE Biology and Chemistry. I aim to make my lessons fun and tailored to what you as the student need. I know everyone has different ways they prefer to learn so I am more than happy to let the students guide how the sessions go. I want to help you tackle difficult topics in Biology and Chemistry so that they can become much simpler and more manageable before we can move on to applying what we have learnt to exam questions. Learning the exam content is only one aspect required to tackle GCSE questions, I also want to help you improve your exam technique show that you can show off what you know to the examiner. I achieved 9 grade 9s and 1 grade 8 at GCSE including 95% in GCSE Chemistry, and 85% in GCSE Biology. I have also achieved A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Drama & Theatre Studies. I scored a 2960 in the UCAT which placed me in the top 10% and from there I began my journey in medical school. So whether you want to build your level of understanding of certain topics or you want to learn how to tackle exam questions, I am more than happy to help!

I have had experience tutoring for a number of years now. I have experience tutoring a number of subjects to children up to GSCE age. I think the one thing that makes a great tutor is passion and I certainly have that! I genuinely enjoy helping children achieve their goals and get a real buzz out of seeing children grasp something they haven't been able to previously. I strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment in order for the children to get the most out of every lesson.

Attained in GCSEs: A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry Attained in A levels: A in Maths, A in Chemistry, A* in Biology I aim to be engaging and relatable for all types of students as I understand the challenges of achieving top grades in today's current school system. I believe anyone can improve their grades with the right support and I aim to provide this in full. Occasionally tutored friends for free during A-levels, held teaching sessions during medical school. Also have 6+ years experience tutoring ADHD and neurodivergent students. I will always prepare and organise tutorials in advance for a more effective session. I will establish with the student which topics they want to go through each week and and tackle the topics they find most difficult as a priority. My teaching style will be light-hearted and interactive sessions to make learning more enjoyable, with quizzes, as well as many pictures and videos online to go with the worksheets. This will be coupled with me explaining each topic step by step and a summary at the end of each lesson to check the learning of the student. I believe the critical factor for students to learn better and develop an appreciation for learning is to do so under less pressure and in an engaging environment

My lessons are really straightforward and focused on helping you understand the content rather than just memorising it. I follow the GCSE specification closely, break down each topic in a clear and simple way, and use lots of exam‑style questions so you can see exactly how to apply the content. I know the mark schemes well so I make sure you learn how to phrase answers in the way examiners want, not just what the textbook says. I got a 9 in GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics and have a strong foundation in the subjects. Overall, my lessons are interactive, structured, and designed to help you properly understand the content — because that’s the real key to getting top grades.
Maths tutor
Hi, I'm George and I am a student studying for a degree in biochemistry at The university of Hull. With my tutoring, each lesson, the student will receive the support they need to reach their goals, along with being appropriately challenged to remain engaged. From tutoring my brother throughout his GCSEs and tutoring many more students since, I have learnt that an understanding and patient demeanour can create an atmosphere of comfortabilty and confidence. In terms of what a session would look like, it would begin with various questions from topics previously covered, in order to test the recall of the student. Following this we would move onto new content with in depth explanations and relevant questions throughout. Towards the end of the session we will do a brief summary on what we have covered along with questions ranging in difficulty to determine the progress made. Finally me and the student will have a discussion as to where we both think they could improve and if there is anything they would like to lightly recap or potentially have another session on.
