Medical Student & Maths Tutor
Hi I'm Leston, a medical student with a passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. Before studying medicine, I completed a degree in Economics with Finance, giving me a strong analytical background alongside my scientific studies. I have over six years of tutoring experience, teaching students from across the English and Scottish curriculums. Throughout this time, I have helped students improve their understanding of maths, prepare effectively for exams, and achieve excellent results. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual needs, whether they require support with the fundamentals, help tackling challenging topics, or guidance to reach their target grades. Outside of my studies, I enjoy staying active through sport. I regularly play football, tennis and cricket, and I also enjoy long-distance running, having completed three marathons. I also love to travel! My lessons are friendly, patient and engaging, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to develop confidence, problem-solving skills and a genuine understanding of maths that will benefit students long after their exams. Whether you're preparing for school tests or GCSEs I'd be delighted to help you reach your full potential.
Experienced Maths Tutor
Maths can become much easier when you have someone who explains things in a way that actually makes sense to you. I’m a UCL Mathematics and Statistical Sciences graduate with over four years of one-to-one tutoring experience, primarily teaching GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level Maths. I have taught students across a wide range of abilities, from those who feel stuck and need support with the basics to those aiming for the highest grades. I understand that Maths can feel overwhelming, especially when lessons move quickly or there are gaps in understanding. My approach is to slow things down when needed, explain ideas clearly and build understanding step by step. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling judged. I have completed over 250 hours of GCSE and IGCSE Maths tuition. Alongside helping students understand difficult topics, I also focus on problem-solving and exam technique, including how to approach different types of questions, structure working clearly and avoid common mistakes. Rather than asking students to simply memorise methods, I encourage them to understand the reasoning behind what they are doing. As their confidence grows, I gradually encourage them to tackle questions more independently and explain their own thinking. I hold a BSc in Mathematics and Statistical Sciences from UCL, graduating with a 2:1, and achieved A*A*A*A in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at A-Level. Whether a student wants to catch up, strengthen their foundations, prepare for exams or push themselves further, I tailor lessons to their individual needs. My goal is for students to leave lessons feeling that Maths is clearer, more manageable and something they can tackle with confidence.
Maths tutor
Hi, I'm George and I am a student studying for a degree in biochemistry at The university of Hull. With my tutoring, each lesson, the student will receive the support they need to reach their goals, along with being appropriately challenged to remain engaged. From tutoring my brother throughout his GCSEs and tutoring many more students since, I have learnt that an understanding and patient demeanour can create an atmosphere of comfortabilty and confidence. In terms of what a session would look like, it would begin with various questions from topics previously covered, in order to test the recall of the student. Following this we would move onto new content with in depth explanations and relevant questions throughout. Towards the end of the session we will do a brief summary on what we have covered along with questions ranging in difficulty to determine the progress made. Finally me and the student will have a discussion as to where we both think they could improve and if there is anything they would like to lightly recap or potentially have another session on.
